Double Agent ready for Euro PS3 launch

Ubisoft announced today that a PlayStation 3 version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent will be ready for the March 2007 release of the PlayStation 3 in Europe.

The publisher also confirmed that support for the Sixaxis wireless contoller will be made available in both single and multiplayer modes, which means it’ll take advantage of the tilt-sensing feature.

But it doesn’t end there, Ubisoft plans on releasing some extra multiplayer maps and skins which will be exclusive to the PlayStation 3.

The game has been released on other platforms but this exclusive content should persuade PS3 fans to grab a copy.

Millions of Bloggers on Blogspot.com are either too lazy or don't understand the basic HTML tags.

When you create a new blog on Blogger.com, Google provides a default blogspot template that has three links in the side bar - one link points to Google News while the other two links (Edit-Me) are just placeholders for the blogger to insert his own hyperlinks (see screenshot)

But bloggers are too busy creating content and don't bother changing these "under construction" areas. There are 4.5 million pages hosted on blogspot.com that still have the Google News and Edit Me links [site:blogspot.com "Google News" "Edit-Me"]

If your blog also falls in this category, my suggestion would be that you first read the W3 Schools tutorial on HTML and CSS. Once you have a certain comfort level with your blogger template code, throw the default blogspot template in the recycle bin and switch to a more professional design.Fortunately, there are lot of good folks who have developed some beautiful blogger templates and they are providing them for free. Looking to download all the images that you see on Google Image results or Flickr pages ? Here's some help.

There are basically two ways to hack these photo services. The traditional and more painful approach is to make a search on Google [or Flickr or Yahoo], wait for the results page to load and then click the individual photos to open them full size and finally save them to your hard drive. Not recommened.

Don't get turned away, there are some very easy-to-use options that let you create an entire catalogue of images from Google or Flickr for offline viewing. Let's look at some of them:
» Google Image Ripper - This online service extracts the full size images [no thumbnails] from Google index and displays them in one page. You can then save the full page with attachments to build your offline gallery of Google Images.

» Flickr Leech - Type in the Flick tag, username or just a short description and this web based free leeching service will extract hundreds of images from Flick on just one page. This service make Flickr browsing a breeze.

» Google Grab - Unlike the previous two services, Googlegrab is a desktop software that leeches full scale images and download them to your local hard disk automatically. Works for PC and Mac. [via Philipp]

December 15, 2006 - Sega and Sony have been flooding the Japanese game market with Bleach adaptations since last year. And we're talking quite the devastating flood. Over a period of less than two years, the popular anime series has seen 9 unique games (that's 2 DS, 1 GameCube, 2 PS2 and 4 PSP).With Sega's latest adaptation, Bleach Wii Hakujin Kiramkeu Rondo, the Wii gets in on the party, just two weeks following launch. And guess what? Sega has made the completely unexpected and surprising choice of turning the anime into a one-on-one fighter!Bleach Wii has all the things you'd expect from an anime fighter. Let's see... there's the large cast of fighters, with at least 14 characters pulled from the anime. There's the story mode, with voiced dialogue sequences between bouts. There's the arcade mode, where you fight 8 matches as the character of your choice. For multiplayer, there's a versus mode, which also includes options for Player versus CPU and CPU versus CPU. And, of course, the expected training and gallery modes.Sega has added a few things to the formula. First up are 20+ second load times prior to a fight. Actually, this itself might have been influenced by the lengthy load times found in the first PSP adaptation.The Wii version also attempts to separate itself from the rest of the pack with its full support of the Wiimote. The controller is used for directly slashing your sword. By slashing up to down, left to right and thrusting into the screen, you can, in theory, make your in-game counterpart perform the equivalent motion. You'll have to ignore the fact that you're viewing the action from the side rather than in the first person. You'll also have to use your imagination when playing as the four characters who don't use weapons.Outside of these direct controls, things get a bit more complicated. Unblockable versions of all the moves can be performed by holding down the B button as you slash, or you can hold down A and swing away for individual special attacks. You move your character with the nunchuck analogue pad, guard with Z and dash by holding down C. To slip into one of those super mega powerful alternative universe modes that are always featured in these games, you shake the nunchuck once your power meter has been filled up.With all the button pressing and extraneous shaking going on, one has to question if Bleach really manages to deliver the feel of actually fighting with a sword, or if the motion-based controls are just a gimmick tacked on to a fighting system that could have been done just as well with standard controls. The answer is neither of the above. Bleach does a pretty terrible job of reading your Wiimote motions. I couldn't get my characters to do the slashes I wanted, resulting in non-stop thrusting. Standard controls would have been more preferable.But then, I suppose, Bleach Wii would've been just another anime-based fighting game

Are the dungeons as creative and unique as those of Ocarina and Majora's Mask? Is this an actual sequel to the epic Ocarina? Lastly and most importantly, is this the greatest Zelda of all time?
To be truthful, my expectations were so incredibly high at first, I scared myself about actually finding the truth with the fear that the game might just be too long, and too grand for it's own good. Oh and that unsure Wii Remote which looked great working for other games... how on earth would work for an RPG adventure of this scale?

December 19, 2006 - It was revealed last April that Angelina Jolie might not be as done with the role of Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider film franchise as she had previously suggested."Paramount has optioned [Tomb Raider III] and Angelina has agreed to star in the third," Ian Livingstone, Eidos honcho and creator of Lara Croft, told the Daily Express at the time.Now Livingstone says the project is inching forward at the studio. A hit and miss manifesto cum homage to rap music and the culture that spawned it.

December 20, 2006 - At first glance checking the track listing for the Queensbridge killer's latest offering, it appears to be more of a cameo fest than an actual Nas album. Sue me for saying so, but for several years running now very, very, very few artists of merit have released an album that features only their voice. Back in the day the sole purpose for a guest shot was to big up your crew (check the early Gang Starr or EPMD joints where they always gave love to their unsigned crew members and helped get them album deals). These days the guest appearance often feels more like a crutch to pad out an album that might not be as strong as it should be. That and the "obligatory" producer appearance (sorry guys, the only producer who was ever worth his salt on a guest verse was Pete Rock, since he kind of helped break the trend into the mainstream), of which there are no less than two high profile ones here.

The guest list on Hip Hop Is Dead included Jay-Z, Kelis, Will.I.Am, Kanye West, Chrisette Michele, Tre Williams, Snoop Dogg, The Game, and Marsha Ambrosius. Surprisingly, despite the somewhat lengthy guest list, none of the participants feel like they're taking up space, but rather complimenting Nas' commanding vernacular. In this way it feels less like a guest laden expose and more like a complete Nas offering that just happens to feature a few close friends who dropped by the studio unannounced and were asked to stay for dinner.

Details continue to be doled out on a near-daily basis leading up to the highly anticipated November launch of the Blu-ray enabled PS3. Today is all about the remote control. Turns out gamers will be able to access Blu-ray playback functionality two ways: 1) Much the same way DVD playback is handled on the PS2 today, via a new and improved wireless controller dubbed 'Sixaxis' (so named because it has sensors which allow it to sense linear motion along six axes), and... 2) Via a new optional accessory -- a Blu-ray/DVD remote control, offering streamlined access to the unit's disc playback features. According to initial reports, the optional remote has been priced at 3600 yen ($31), and while a U.S. release date for the remote has yet to be announced, Sony is already receiving flack for its plans in Japan where the remote won't be released until December 7th, three weeks after the PlayStation unit itself hits shelves in that country. The PlayStation 3 is scheduled to be released stateside on November 17.

I would recommend trying Wal-Mart first since it is open 24 hours and they have chairs for you depending on where you live. All of the other retail stores you're going have to wait outside to get your hands on the PlayStation 3. Best Buy will have the most PS3's to sell, so it would be the safest place to wait in line for. If there is more than 12 people in line, forget about it and find another store. The easiest stores to get a PS3 would be CompUSA, Sam Goody, Brands Mart, Sams Club, Circuit City, Costco's Wholesale, and Sears. Your goal should be to find stores that are not known for selling video games and to wait in line there. You may even be able to wait in your vehicle at some of these stores until another customer pulls up. If you're going to wait outside make sure you pack warm clothes, blankets, MP3/CD player, and some food. Usually there are good conversations when camping out. My experience at Target for the Xbox 360 last year was good besides the cold weather. We had some very good and interesting conversations that kept everyone awake and filled with energy.
Scams
Beware of the scams during launch day! Not only on the internet but in person also. There are a lot of people who will be scamming folks left and right. Claiming they have a ticket for the PlayStation 3, and no longer feel like waiting in line so you can purchase their ticket for x amount of money. Be careful with making a deal with someone. If the person is willing to sell you their ticket or console, make sure you ask people around if he or she is telling the truth. Don't ask the person next to them because they could be part of the scam too. Ask more than one person to confirm that he or she has been in line waiting and that whatever they're presenting to you is real. Ask them questions, get their phone number, do whatever you have to do to not lose hundreds of dollars. I was scam last year on an Xbox 360 while at Target. I have been in the freezing cold weather for over 10 hours, and I had brain freeze so my thought process wasn't good. What he offered me didn't even make sense after I thought about it. Luckily he felt guilty that he got away with it so easy and drove back to Target and gave me all of my money back and apologized. That will be the last time I accept a deal from anyone on launch day. I never thought I would get scam, but it happen to me that day. When you get desperate you don't think things thru.
Purchasing On eBay
You will have no problem finding a PlayStation 3 on eBay, however, you may run into a problem with digging up the cash for one. They're not going to sell for no less than $1200. That's $600 more than the cost of the premium console. There has already been a pre-order auction that ended at $2100. So if you have the money, then eBay is by far the easiest way to get your hands on a PlayStation 3

It's by no means new though, tales of the East End and its less that friendly inhabitants have been in and out of the press since the notorious Kray twins and The Great Train Robbers. It's this new cooler image which Sony first hit on with their PS2 hit The Getaway and it was only a matter of time before a sequel was produced and this mini spin off for the PSP. There's always a concern though with handheld versions of console hits, as to just how much compromise will be made in order to fit the game on the considerably smaller media. So, has Gangs of London got enough attitude?
